Michigan’s Attorney General & Secretary of State Races
The races for attorney general and secretary of state have both been heated here in Michigan.
Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel is being challenged by Matt DePerno.
Democratic Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is facing off against Republican Kristina Karamo.
Both Republican candidates have called out their opponents ahead of the election and raised questions about the validity of the 2020 election.
That’s led to concerns over whether either will accept the results of this election.
It’s important to note, DePerno is currently being investigated for allegedly accessing election equipment illegally after the 2020 election.
Karamo has also raised doubts about Michigan’s election process, even filing a lawsuit against the city of Detroit over how they review signatures on absentee ballots and monitor drop-off boxes.
A Detroit judge threw out the lawsuit the today before Tuesday’s election, saying they failed to present any evidence.
Nessel and Benson have dismissed the claims made by their opponents and touted their records in office throughout the campaign hoping.
Both sides say they feel this race could be a close one.
9&10’s Zachariah Wheaton will be in metro Detroit all night as the results for the attorney general’s race and secretary of state come in.
