Michigan State Police, United Way Provide Car Seats and Car Seat Safety Checks

A good way to keep your child safe if you’re ever in an accident is by checking your car seat.

Michigan State Police are partnering with United Way to provide families car seats for their child. They provided installation and performed car seat safety checks Thursday at Dave Kring Chevrolet in Petoskey.

State police encouraged those in need to come out and get a seat, and for those who already have a car seat installed to stop by and let them make sure it’s installed correctly.

“A lot of people who have already signed up to come in today by the schedule. There is a criteria they must meet through united way. However, we were always looking for those who are in need and we will appreciate those and make sure they are taken car of,” Seventh District Public Information Officer Spl/Lt. Derrick Carrol said.

The program is made possible by private and charitable donations.
