Before you put your kids on the bus this morning or drive them to school you may want to think twice.
That’s because Wednesday is national walk and roll to school day.
9&10’s Meredith St. Henry was in downtown Traverse with the kids walking to school, for the 26th annual walk and roll to school day.
They are all students at Central Grade School in Traverse City.
Most of the kids walking participate in this event every year.
The point of the event is to: encourage physical fitness and healthy habits, heighten awareness of traffic, safety, and environmental concerns around schools, provide an inexpensive and environmentally-friendly activity.
It helps to kick off a community-wide safe routes to school initiative, plus it’s a fun way to spend time with your child, grandchild, or other special young person in your life!
