Coast Guard Completes Annual Training at Bryant Park Beach

The coast guard trains year round and it’s a crucial part in the success of their work.

TrainingWednesday, air station Traverse City was at Bryant Park Beach completing their annual wet drill.

These wet drills simulate what would happen in a survival situation like an unplanned landing. During this training, gear is checked to make sure its working properly and they get a refresher on first aid tips.

“We were in the water in our dry suits, doing a leak check, make sure they don’t get water inside of them, which is important for when we’re in the water, in the helicopter. And doing survival training with our life rafts and with our flares and survival equipment and our first aid kits and things like that as well,” Tate Miller, an avionics electrical technician, stated.
