Copemish Man Arrested After Brandishing Handgun at Thompsonville Park

Michigan State Police say a Copemish man was arrested for brandishing a handgun in a Thompsonville park last Friday.

According to MSP, witnesses said Taylor Cordell Tinch, 25, looking at a vehicle in Thompsonville Park. When a man approached Tinch, he allegedly lifted his sweater revealing a handgun in his waistband. He then left the scene driving maroon van. Troopers were able to locate the van at an address on 2nd Street.

During Tinch’s arrest, troopers found two Sig Sauer .177 caliber handguns in the vehicle. Troopers also found an ibuprofen bottle containing a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine.

Tinch was arraigned in a Benzie County court on one count carrying a concealed a weapon, one count brandishing a firearm and one count possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, less than 25 grams. He was issued a $5,000 bond and is due back in court on Oct. 24.
