Two Grand Traverse County People Arraigned on Drug Charges After Receiving Drugs in the Mail

Two people from Grand Traverse County have been arraigned on drug charges after being caught mailing illegal substances, according to the Traverse Narcotics Team.

Charles Payne, 42, and Darlene Darcangelo, 60, were arrested after TNT detectives and the United States Postal Inspection Service identified illegal substances being mailed to a house in Grand Traverse County in August.

USPIS were able to get ahold of one of the packages and found 16 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 30 unprescribed hydrocodone pills, according to TNT. USPIS turned the drugs over to TNT to investigate. This lead to the arrest of Payne and Darcangelo.

Payne and Darcangelo were arraigned on Sept. 27 for attempted possession of methamphetamine, attempted possession of hydrocodone and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Both of them were given a $10,000/personal recognizance bond.

According to TNT, Payne and Darcangelo were arrested in 2021 for similar offenses involving receiving illegal narcotics in the mail.
