Eastern UP Receiving $25 Million in Grants for High Speed Internet
Rural parts of the Eastern Upper Peninsula are closer to getting accessibility to high speed internet thanks to $25 million in loans and grants.
The USDA is making the investments through the third-round funding of the ReConnet Loan and Grant Program. Private companies will install the broadband and price the service.
“These are independent companies that are coming through,” said Mariah Goos, community liaison for EUP Connect Collaborative. “We still have to look at it in the sense that it is an investment to them. Yes, the customers are here. If you bring it, they will sign up for it.”
You are encouraged to complete a survey that is critical for the program to fully benefit the area. You can complete that survey here.
