Great Lakes Coastal Symposium Discusses Conservation and Restoration Efforts in Eastern U.P.

A three day event in Sault Ste. Marie is bringing like-minds in the conservation field together to discuss ways to prioritize conservation and restoration efforts in the eastern U.P.

The Great Lakes Coastal Symposium is being held at Kewadin Casino with Guest speakers and several environmental vendors.

Participants also took time to go out in the field to observe wetlands and environmentally sensitive areas because preserving water and the shoreline is essential to our future.

“Hope those people walk out of here with a lot more knowledge and learn more of the innovative strategies that are taking place and connecting with people that can help inform even more of that great practice in the field,” Matt Miller, Senior Director of Conservation Audubon Great Lakes, said.

The first symposium was held in 2019. Miller hopes to have the symposium every other year.
