Ludington’s Sandcastles Children’s Museum Sees Busy Summer Season

This has been a busy summer tourist season for northern Michigan cities, and businesses are reaping the benefits.

Sandcastles Children’s Museum in Ludington says they’ve seen some great visitor numbers this summer.

Their August numbers compared to two years ago went up from 4,000 to over 5,000 visitors.

They say they get the bulk of their admission money from the summer, which allows them to stay open all year round.

“We know we have a lot of new visitors, we collect zip codes at the front door, and we know that many of them are local, but a lot of them are visiting,” said Executive Director Kristin Korendyke.

Korendyke says they’ve been able to restart their in person programming this year, which has helped bring back and bring new visitors to their museum.
