An Emmet County woman shot and killed her boyfriend Wednesday night, according to the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 8:58 p.m., CCE Central Dispatch received a call from a woman who said she just shot her boyfriend.
The Sheriff’s Office says the shooting happened at a home on State Road near Middle Village Road in Friendship Township, that’s just north of Harbor Springs.
When they got there, they confronted the alleged caller, who was still holding the gun, and found the boyfriend, 50, dead.
“Deputies had set up a perimeter and they could see her walking around in the house,” said Sheriff Wallin. “She came outside and that’s when they confronted her, but she was still holding a firearm in her hand.”
The woman, 48, was arrested and is now in jail on charges of open murder and possession of a firearm while intoxicated, according to Sheriff Pete Wallin.
There are no further details at this time while this incident remains under investigation.
