Networks Northwest Wage Survey Helps Guides Local Businesses

An updated wage survey from Networks Northwest is out for the first time in about 10 years. The survey helps Networks Northwest guide local businesses through wage competitions.

The original survey was sent out in 2013. Since then, there has been a significant increase in participation.

Rob Dickinson, the regional director for business services at Networks Northwest, says the higher response rate is a huge undertaking.

“More participation, more data,” he says. “If you have 1 or 2 people from a certain county and that’s all the participation you get there, that’s not very accurate data. So the more data you get, you’re going to get an accurate reading of the whole county or the whole region.”

Dickinson explains that being able to know what businesses are offering allows them to guide owners in the right direction when it comes to either increasing, decreasing, or finding a compensation.

Compared to the previous survey results, Networks Northwest is seeing employers offer more benefits. Which is something that they actually recommend to companies to help them become more competitive.

“They are able to do other perks, you know, bonuses, days off, vacation, that kind of stuff,” Dickinson says. “There are more and more companies able to come into that benefit fold and we saw an increase in that.”

Maxbauer Meat Market works with Networks Northwest to understand the competition in the area.

“Pay is important. People need to make money,” says Mike Wilson, Owner of Maxbauer Meat Market. “We try to take good care of our people with wage, with food and a bunch of stuff. But it’s important to know what other people are paying and what the future looks like.”

Wilson appreciates the partnership and guidance he has gotten from Networks Northwest.
