We hate to say it, but school starts soon and the summer season is coming to a close. But there’s still plenty of fun to be had here in northern Michigan this month.

Boyne City Piratefest
The Boyne City Pirate Festival kicks off their nine-day celebration on Saturday, Aug. 6, and you can check it out through Aug. 14 in Boyne City. You’ll find live music, a pirate parade, costume contests, and lots of pirate-themed, family-friendly fun. They’ll be crowning their PirateFest Queen on the 11th, and you can also participate in the flo-till-a invasion on Aug. 12 at Boyne City’s Sunset Park. You’ll want to check out their full schedule of events for all the fun activities.
Michaywe Arts & Crafts Fair
Head to Gaylord for the 43rd Annual Michaywe Arts & Crafts Fair on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 12 & 13. Michaywe’s clubhouse and its wooded, park-like setting serve as the backdrop for the fair, which will feature one-of-a-kind handmade crafts, décor, artwork, and more from over 100 exhibitors. The event will also feature a free kids zone on both days, for the little ones to enjoy fun activities as well.
Bellaire Chamber of Commerce – Rubber Ducky Festival
The Bellaire Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the 35th Annual Rubber Ducky Festival Aug. 18-20! This festival features fun for the whole family to enjoy, including the Paddle Antrim Community Paddle, the Grand Parade, and of course, the Rubber Ducky Race on Aug. 20. There’s lots of great fun and entertainment taking place all weekend long, including lots of free activities, and you’ll want to be sure to check it out.
