A former undersheriff in the U.P. who was charged with drunk driving after an accident in Traverse City, has been sentenced to a year and half on probation.

Kevin Coppo had already pled guilty to charges of operating under the influence and failing to report an accident.

Back in March, Coppo was the Houghton County Undersheriff. While on a visit to Traverse City, he hit a parked car in a hotel parking lot. The Grand Traverse County Sheriff’s Office said Coppo’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

He’ll be on probation until early 2024.
