A 10-year-old boy who was has died, according to the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say a series of tests had taken place and found that Ethan Anewishki, 10, of Shelby, had no brain activity. He was considered dead Tuesday, according to a social worker from Spectrum DeVos Hospital.
On Monday, deputies responded to shots fired at a home in Shelby Township at 6:42 a.m. They found the 10-year-old and his mother Melissa Anewishki, 38, of Shelby, inside.
Both had sustained gunshot wounds, but the 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
