An Alden man was arrested for one count of delivery of a controlled substance causing death among other charges following an investigation by the Traverse Narcotics Team and Kalkaska County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives started an investigation into a Rapid River Township death that was suspected to be a fatal drug overdose, according to TNT. Search warrants and an autopsy were conducted to further the investigation.

In early July, the Kalkaska County Prosecutor’s Office authorized an arrest warrant for one count of delivery of a controlled substance causing death.

Postmortem blood results, according to TNT, showed a mix of toxicity and narcotics, including fentanyl and methamphetamine.

On July 15, Kalkaska County deputies and a TNT detective arrested Jeffery Schram, 41, of Alden. He was issued a $10,000/10% bond on July 16.

After Schram posted bond, investigators executed a search warrant for electronics at his home, which resulted in additional drugs being found.

Schram was arrested for a second time on July 18 and was charged for one count Possession of Methamphetamine and one count Possession of Analogues.
