An Indian River woman was charged with arson Thursday after burning part of a home, a dirt bike and a truck in Littlefield Township last September, according to Michigan State Police.

On September 14, 2021, troopers responded to an arson complaint at a home on Miller Road after the homeowner found his dirt bike, truck and part of his home burned. He believed his ex-girlfriend, Heather Sharpe-Embom, 37, of Indian River, was responsible for the incident.

The Michigan State Police Fire Marshall collected evidence at the scene, including shoe impressions. That evidence was then turned in to the MSP Crime Lab for analysis, and it was determined gasoline was used as an accelerant in the fire.

On May 5, an arrest warrant was issued for Sharpe-Embom. Sharpe-Embom turned herself in on June 30 and was charged Thursday on one count of fourth degree arson.

She is expected back in court in mid-August.
