Mason County Man Arrested After Breaking Into Sherman Township Home

A 28-year-old Mason County man faces home invasion charges after breaking into a home in Sherman Township early Wednesday afternoon.

Mason County Sheriff’s Deputies a homeowner called after finding that someone had broken into his home around 12:50 p.m.

Several other calls came in at that same time about a shirtless man in the 3700 block of North US-31 shooting a gun at passing cars, and that the man had gone back into the home of the original break in armed with a long gun.

The homeowner then ran to a nearby house and, as deputies arrived, the man exited the home while yelling at the deputy.

The man was not armed when taken into custody, and a shotgun was recovered along with several casings.

Anyone who may have been traveling on US-31 between Scottville and Manistee who could have witnessed the incident or has damage to their cars consistent to a gunshot should call Mason County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Oscar Davila at 231-843-3475 ext. 130 or the Mason/Oceana County 911 Center.
