No Body Contact Advisory Issued for Sugar Island Township Park Beach

The Chippewa County Health Department has issued a no body contact advisory for Sugar Island Township Park Beach.

People are advised to avoid body contact with surface waters after water samples collected on Tuesday showed elevated levels of E. coli bacteria following heavy rains.

The health department says it is expected that levels of bacteria in the water will fall to acceptable levels after 24 hours have passed since the rain stopped.
