Moomers Adds New Cherry Flavor for National Cherry Festival

The National Cherry Festival brings a lot of fan-favorites to northern Michigan every summer, and this year there may be a new favorite ice cream.

The festival is partnering with Moomers to create the official hard-pack ice cream of the National Cherry Festival. They’re calling it “Cherry Traffic Jam” – it’s a cherry swirl, graham cracker pieces, and vanilla ice cream.

Jon Plummer with Moomers says it’s a great, tasty way to support the cherry industry. “They chose what flavor first. They knew what flavor they wanted however they didn’t know what to call it. They brainstormed… I think it’s a great flavor. It’s kind of a spin on them creating a traffic jam in the city… it’s iconic for the National Cherry Festival.”

Moomers says it’s a great companion for their other cherry flavor – Cherries Moobilee. Cherry Traffic Jam is available now through the Cherry Festival, but if the crowd loves it as much as he thinks they will, Plummer says it could become a regular featured flavor.
