Project Feed the Kids Celebrates 100,000 Meals with ‘Spring Carnival’

J&S Hamburg’s Project Feed the Kids welcomed the community with their first spring carnival on Sunday.

They’re celebrating 100,000 meals provided over the last two years. Many of the families they’ve helped were present, as well as friends and customers in the community. They were also given a Friend of Education award for everyone that Project Feed the Kids has helped.

J&S Hamburg co-owner Tiffany McQueer says while they’re proud of everything they’ve accomplished, it’s also hard knowing there’s still so many hungry families in the area.

“It’s very heartbreaking that we’re at a point where we’re at 100,000 meals, there’s that much need—just here, in the three communities, it’s heartbreaking,” said McQueer. “I’m glad we can help, but it’s very hard too.”

They currently have food coolers open to the public in Kingsley, Traverse City and Kalkaska, but hope to keep expanding in the future.
