A business owner is working to rebuild after a fire in Houghton Lake Wednesday afternoon.
Crews responded around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday to calls of a shed on fire at the Northshore Lounge.
When crews arrived they determined the fire was coming from the back of the building. They say the fire had moved to a second shed and eventually caught part of the building on fire. Lake Township Fire Chief Scott Wrzesinski says no one was hurt in the fire.
“When we got there it was fully engulfed and reached another shed that we later found had a diesel generator full of diesel fuel,” Chief Wrzesinski says.
The Northshore Lounge was purchased around a year ago. The new owner says they just had their first busy weekend last week. However, he says other than the shed, only office and storage space was damaged in the fire. He says he’s hopeful they’ll be able to bounce back.
The Lake township Fire Department was assisted by the Lyon Township Fire Department. They say they’re still working to determine the cause of the fire.
