Ossineke Man Arrested After Pouring Maple Syrup in Gas Tank

Fischer Arrest Mug

An Ossineke man has been arraigned on one count malicious destruction of personal property $1,000 or more, but less than $20,000 after pouring maple syrup into a woman’s gas tank, according to Michigan State Police.

On April 3, Troopers from the Michigan State Police Alpena Post were called to a parking lot on Werth Road where they talked to a woman who said she and her boyfriend were confronted by a man in the parking lot. They got into a fight and as they were later leaving, her car stopped working, according to MSP.

Troopers say she believed the man did something to her car, and when they checked the fuel cap they noticed a sticky substance and that it smelled like maple syrup. The car was towed to a local garage where the mechanic confirmed there was a gooey substance at the bottom of the tank that clogged the fuel pump. The repair cost was over $1,000, according to MSP.

An arrest warrant was issued on May 18 for Jeremy Fischer, MSP says.

He was arrested by the Alpena Police Department on May 19 during a traffic stop.
