Captain Michael Brown Withdraws From Governor Race

Captain Michael Brown has taken himself out of the running for Governor of Michigan.

This comes as the Michigan Elections Bureau says five republicans running for governor failed to file enough valid signatures for their nomination.

Brown says he believes independent contractors brought onto his campaign to gather signatures “jumped onto other campaigns and went on a money grab.”

He says these contractors were involved in the alleged fraudulent signature gathering. He gave a full written statement saying in part,

“We built this campaign on common sense conservative principles with a positive message of prosperity, safety, and respect for all the citizens of Michigan. The countless hours, miles, conversations, and tireless effort will not be in vain as I continue to fight for the future of Michigan…I have made many tough decisions for the right reasons over my life. This is a painful but necessary decision I make decisively because that’s what the citizens deserve.”
