Seven Charged for Accosting Children for Immoral Purposes in Isabella County

After being arrested during an underage predator operation, seven men have been charged with accosting children for immoral purposes and computer crime, according to the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office.

The men unsuspectingly communicated with members of a multi-county task force through social media, and were under the impression they would meet to have sexual relations with underage children.

Five of the men were arrested at their agreed meeting place, while two others left in a car before deputies could make contact. The two were stopped and arrested, but one man tried to run from deputies and hit a parked car on the side of the road before stopping.

The following men have been charged with accosting children for immoral purposes and computer crime:

  • Cody Bunner, 22, of Mt. Pleasant
  • Dwayne Overton, 21, of Union Township
  • William Machuta, 32, of Mt. Pleasant
  • Brent Hulien, 34, of Standish
  • John Guernsey, 50, of Chippewa Township
  • Zachary Bell, 25, of Mt. Pleasant

Andrew Cousar, 29, of Grand Rapids was also arrested for accosting children for immoral purposes and computer crime and faces additional charges of fleeing and eluding and failing to report an accident.

The task force is also reviewing two other men who were not arrested for possible charges related to the operation, according to the Isabella County Sheriff’s Office.
