Possible Stolen Car Recovered from 17 Feet of Water in Mecosta Township Pond
A possible stolen car was recovered on the east side of Roger’s Pond in Mecosta Township on Wednesday, according to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office.
The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Dive Team recovered the car during a training dive after receiving a tip about a possible car vehicle that had been driven off 10 Mile Road and Millerdale Drive.
Members of the dive team scanned the area with their sonar, and were able to get an image of what looked to be a car in about 17 feet of water.
Divers went down and found the car, a 2009 Dodge Caravan, which looked to have been in the river for an extended period of time, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies then notified dispatch and got the next available wrecker to come tow it out of the water.
The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.
