It’s a punctuation symbol that seems simple enough; a semicolon.

You may have seen someone with on tattooed on them, and wondered what it meant.

Project Semicolon took off in 2016, when a woman named Amy Bleuel lost her father to suicide.

It quickly became a symbol to encourage love and support for those who struggle with depression, suicidal thoughts, addiction, and loss.

We reached out to hear about why have a semicolon tattoo, and you responded with some very powerful stories.

If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts, or know someone who is, call the National Suicide Prevention Lifetime 24/7 at 1-800-273-8255.

You can also text “TALK” to 741-741.
