62-year-old David Spencer from Traverse City and 41-year-old Kathryn Fogle from Howell died in a crash in Elmwood Township on Saturday afternoon.
The Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened between a 1965 Ford Cobra 427 replica and a 2020 BMW X3 SUV on Cherry Bend Road near Dalzell Road.

Sheriff Mike Borkovich wants to remind people to be smart on the roads as we head into the busy summer months.
“Just because they’re made for tracks and have the ability to corner and break well, doesn’t mean it’s safe on the road, so try to stick as close as you can to speed limits and everybody be safe—just take this as a learning lesson that things can happen and in this particular case, it was very unfortunate,” said Borkovich.
Two other people suffered serious injuries in the crash and are still in the hospital.
