Traverse City Police Officer Retires After 25 Years of Service

Erich Bohrer is retiring from the Traverse City Police Department after 25 years of service.

Bohrer has served as a lieutenant for nearly four years.

He says his favorite thing about his time on duty was the people he worked with and the close relationships he developed.

“I work with a lot of great people, that’s what I’ll miss the most,” said Bohrer.

Now, he looks forward to spending more time with his family, something he feels is much needed.

“There’s a lot of sacrifice, a lot of missed birthdays, a lot of things and family events that you don’t get along the way, or get to attend anyways, so it’s going to be nice to make a lot of that stuff and not have to worry about sacrificing,” said Bohrer.

Bohrer’s last day is May 14.
