A mechanical issue caused an angler to partially submerge his truck while launching a boat in Brethren Tuesday.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) says before 6 a.m. Tuesday, an angler was backing up their boat into the Tippy Dam boat launch. They say because of a mechanical issue, the angler could not stop their truck, resulting in the truck becoming partially submerged in the river.

The DNR says a passerby helped the driver get the truck out of the river by using a tow strap, and the truck was taken away by a tow truck.

No injuries were reported, and the boat launch has re-opened.
