Body of World War II Navy Seamen From Detroit Identified

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that they have identified a Navy seamen killed during World War II.

Tceollyar Simmons was identified back in November, but his identify has now been released to the family and public.

18-year-old Simmons was stationed on the battleship USS California during the attack on Pearl Harbor.

He was among 104 crewmen who died on the ship after multiple torpedoes and bombs sunk it.

In 2018, DPAA exhumed 25 corpses recovered from the USS California that had not been identified.

Scientists used dental records, DNA, and other methods to identify Simmons.

He will receive a proper burial on June 14 in Alabama.
