US-31 Road and Bridge Repairs To Begin Monday in Manistee, Mason Counties
US-31 in Manistee and Mason Counties is among six other road and bridge projects that are expected to begin Monday, said Governor Gretchen Whitmer in an announcement.
After an investment of $2.4 million by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), about three miles of US-31 between Hoague Road in Mason County and Fox Farm Road in Manistee County will be resurfaced to improve safety and ride quality for drivers, as well as extend the life of the road.
MDOT says US-31 will be closed, and drivers will be detoured to Hoague, Quarterline, County Line, Maple and Fox Farm Roads.
The resurfacing is expected to be finished by Friday, July 1.
“This year, Michiganders will see more orange barrels and cones than ever before as we move forward at record pace to fix roads and bridges across Michigan,” said Governor Whitmer. “Since I took office, we’ve repaired, rebuilt, or replaced over 13,000 lane miles of road and 900 bridges, supporting nearly 82,000 jobs. And both my Rebuilding Michigan Plan and the recently enacted Building Michigan Together Plan will turbocharge our efforts to fix our roads with the right mix and materials, making them much less susceptible to our notorious pothole seasons, all without raising taxes by a cent.”
