Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism Begins this Week

The 2022 Pure Michigan Governor’s Conference on Tourism starts on Tuesday.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer will be present this week, along with several guest speakers, at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa to talk about Northern Michigan’s biggest industry—tourism.

Pure Michigan is investing $30 million to encourage people to travel to and throughout the state.

“This year, I think it’s more than ever, a coming-together after being separated for way too long,” said Travel Michigan Vice President Dave Lorenz. “The travel industry also wants to get together as professionals who haven’t seen each other for way too long.”

They plan to discuss ways to not only bring more people to Michigan, but to encourage people to explore different parts of the state that may be new to them.

“What we’re saying is what’s Pure Michigan to me, may not be Pure Michigan to you, so we’re encouraging you to explore different places and to pursue your “Pure” to find out what’s unique and interesting and authentic for you,” said Lorenz.

The conference goes until Thursday.

College students are encouraged to join on the final day with a special student discount.
