Help Support Chris’s Bucket List Program

A mother who lost her son twelve years ago to muscular dystrophy is paying it forward in memory of him. Christopher Silva was eighteen when he passed away.  Through his life, several organizations including make a wish, gave him the opportunity to experience things he would have otherwise never been able to. Christopher’s mom, Denise, works at Hearthside Assisted Living in Sault Ste. Marie. She is starting up “Christopher’s Bucket List” there to give residents the opportunity to do things that otherwise would be impossible. The first thing on the list is having a slumber party for Mindy, a 44 year old resident at Hearthside, with her five year old daughter.

When speaking about her son Denise says, “He did everything.  He was always a fun kid always happy.  He was just a great great kid.  When he was five, Make a Wish called us and sent us to Florida. So I asked him if he wanted to go to Disney World or go see the President or something like that, a special wish, he said he wanted to go to Disney World.  So someday I said I am going to pay it forward.  I decided to come up with this program ‘Christopher’s Bucket List’ because he got the opportunity to do whatever he wanted to do.  I want to pay it forward to other residents that might want to do something like a resident spends the night with their daughter or one go to the casino or you know, go bowling.  It’s just little things that they might want to do that they can do…so I want to pay it forward in memory of my son.  That’s why I started the bucket list because I think it is perfect…especially the way the world is now.  We need something good for everybody.”

Christopher’s Bucket List’ is funded by donations. If you would like to help with this wonderful project please contact Wendy at 906-635-6911 ext. 5.
