Blanchard Woman Sentenced to Over 20 Years in Prison for Mt. Pleasant Murder

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Kaden Gilbert, 22, of Blanchard has been sentenced to over 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to second degree murder.

Prosecutors say in November 2020, Gilbert intentionally stabbed 21-year-old Nangohns Massey in her home on the Isabella Reservation in Mt. Pleasant, severing her femoral artery. Massey died after losing a large amount of blood.

A man was also stabbed at the Mt. Pleasant home, but police say he had stabilized from his injuries.

“My office extends its deepest condolences to the family of the victim in this case,” stated U.S. Attorney Dawn N. Ison. “It is our sincerest hope that this sentence brings a measure of justice to the victim’s family and friends.”
