McBain City Park Could Receive a $900,000 Renovation

A $900,000 park renovation could come to the City of McBain.

The city applied for a $750,000 grant and pledged $150,000 to update their city park on Elm Street, which hasn’t seen any improvements since the eighties.

Some of the renovations to the park include updates to their basketball and tennis courts, additional sand volleyball courts, and playground equipment for all ages.

McBain’s mayor says this will benefit the community as a whole.

“COVID has shown us a lot of people want to be outdoors more, and it gives our kids an outdoor space to go to,” said Joey Roberts, Mayor City of McBain. “It’ll keep residents here. You know, we want them to go downtown and eat, get ice cream and then be able to walk to our parks.”

The city of McBain expects to know by July if they will receive the grant.
