Shane Horn Appointed as New City Manager for Petoskey
Petoskey has a new City Manager starting in June.
Petoskey City Council members unanimously approved a contract with Shane Horn Monday that appointed him the new City Manager. Horn is re-locating to Michigan after serving as the City Manager with Lakeland, a town northeast of Memphis, Tennessee.
In an interview, Horn said he wanted to move closer to home and praised Petoskey’s natural environments and downtown areas as a reason for coming. Mayor of Petoskey, John Murphy, says that the perceptions around Horn are very positive and they’re excited to get to work.
“I know that he was really impressed with his drive-around with staff, taking a look at all of the projects that are ongoing, basically taking where we’re at and just moving forward with all the good things that have happened in the past through the past City managers of Petoskey,” said Murphy.
Horn is expected to start in Petoskey on June 11.
