Lake Superior State University Raises Awareness for Human Sex Trafficking Through Movie Night
Lake Superior State University had an educational movie night Wednesday.
The Upper Peninsula Human Trafficking Task Force, along with other sponsors, created a movie night that showed a movie that highlights sex trafficking. The movie is called “Ring of Silence” and it is the true story of how human sex trafficking happens in the United States.
In 2021, Michigan ranked in the top ten for the highest rates of human trafficking. This movie helps increase awareness about the crime.
“It’s a world-wide effort to underscore the importance of human dignity. There are bad things happening to good people unsuspected and we find that this is the best way to come together united in the effort to fight human trafficking,” said the President of the Upper Peninsula Human Trafficking Task Force, Stephanie Graef.
After the movie there was an open panel discussion with experts from the task force.
