Erik Little Retires from Big Rapids Public Safety Department

Big Rapids Public Safety Officer Erik Little has officially retired.

He has been a police officer for 36 years, 22 of which have been in Big Rapids.

He began his journey in El Paso County, Colorado, which is home to the most populated county in Colorado. He came to Big Rapids in 2000 to help serve the community where he enjoyed the slower pace. You may have even seen him out patrolling on his horse Boomer.

“So the community dealing with a guy that came from a semi-war zone to here really worked with me to settle me out. Brought me along and brought me down off that high horse and calm me down. And it’s been a good place to work,” said Little.

He says he has plenty to keep him busy after retirement, including keeping his farm up and running.
