Man Who Fired at Deerfield Apartments Sentenced for Minimum of 10 Years

Kenneth Thomas Jr., the man who fired a gun into a Mt. Pleasant Apartment complex in 2021, was sentenced in Isabella County Monday.

Thomas will spend a maximum of 20 years in prison, but he could be released at 10 years with stipulations. He pleaded guilty in Feb. to felony firearm and discharging a weapon.

The shooting happened last April at the Deerfield Village Apartments.

Thomas admitted he was thrown out of a party after getting into a fight. He then fired a gun into the complex, injuring two students including a quarterback on the CMU football team.
