Traverse City Woman Hospitalized After Being Involved in a Head-On Crash
A Traverse City woman has been hospitalized and two others were injured in a two-car crash in Grand Traverse County.
On Thursday around 1:37 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police 7th District Hometown Security Team responded to a two-car injury crash near the intersection of Garfield Road and Mayfield Road in Paradise Township.
The initial investigation revealed that a 39-year-old Traverse City woman was traveling north on Garfield Road when she crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic.
One car traveling south on Garfield Road was able to swerve into a ditch to avoid the car, but a second car traveling south on Garfield Road could not avoid the car and was struck head-on.
The 39-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment to her injuries. She was admitted to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Troopers say initial on-scene investigation shows alcohol to be a factor in the crash, and the 39-year-old was almost five times over the legal limit.
The two occupants of the struck car, a 60-year-old Grand Rapids man and a 23-year-old Grandville man, were treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries and released the same day.
Troopers say a report is being provided to the Grand Traverse Prosecutor’s Office for review.
