Antrim County Deputy Injured in Traffic Crash

An Antrim County Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured in a car crash in Antrim County on Thursday night.

Troopers from the MSP Gaylord Post were called to a crash that happened around 10:30 p.m. on US-131 near Dorr Road in Chestonia Township.

They say their preliminary investigation indicates that the deputy was making a U-turn when a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 63-year-old Holland man struck the driver’s side of the patrol car.

Marijuana and open alcohol containers were found inside the passenger compartment of the pickup truck.

The Antrim County deputy and the driver of the pickup truck were taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Speed, drugs and or alcohol are believed to be a factor in the crash. US-131 was shut down for several hours while troopers investigated the crash.
