Family’s SUV Crashes In Mason County, Troopers Investigating

Troopers are investigating after a crash in Mason County sent a family of four off the road.

They received a call Tuesday afternoon about an SUV rollover on US-31. They say a woman was driving with her two children and dog, when her husband reached over and grabbed the wheel.

According to police, the SUV swerved back and forth before leaving the road and rolling over. Troopers say the man was thrown out of the moon roof, and the SUV landed on top of him. Their 3-month-old was also thrown from the car in her car seat.

The two kids, their mother and the dog were not seriously injured.

Troopers say the husband is in serious condition.

Alcohol is currently being investigated as a possible contributing factor in the traffic crash. Additionally, the improper installation of the car seat is also being investigated. The left passing lane of southbound US-31 Freeway was closed for approximately one hour while law enforcement officials investigated the series of events leading up to the final crash.
