Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office Looking for Suspect in Fishtown Bomb Threat

The Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan State Police were on high alert Monday night after they say a man threatened to kill his wife and place a bomb in Fishtown.

The sheriff’s office says the threats appeared to be credible. Residents were evacuated and several unoccupied businesses were cleared after a call came in around 8 p.m. Monday.

After five hours on the scene, deputies deemed the area safe and opened it back open to the public.

The sheriff’s office says that both state and federal laws were broken, and if identified, the suspect will face multiple misdemeanor and felony charges.
