A 25-year-old Detroit man has been arraigned on home invasion and larceny charges in Alpena County.

On Sunday, March 27 around 2 p.m., Alpena County Central 911 received a call from a homeowner downstate that someone was breaking and entering into his hunting camp in the Ossineke area.

According to the owner, there was a masked person inside his hunting camp.

Michigan State Police say the owner had installed a cellular trail camera inside of his home and was getting a live feed of the masked suspect stealing items. However, the suspect found the camera and took it while walking around the home, stealing other items.

Alpena County Central 911 dispatched the call to a trooper from the MSP Alpena Post,, who was near the home.

The trooper arrived at the home and was waiting for backup when the suspect ran out the backdoor of the home carrying multiple items. The trooper approached the man and ordered him to the ground.

The suspect complied, was arrested without incident and all stolen items were recovered. Troopers say the suspect, Donald Williams, 25, of Detroit was placed on parole in July 2021 for home invasion.

On Monday, Williams was arraigned on one count home invasion second degree and one count larceny from a building.

Williams is currently lodged in the Alpena County Jail on a $250,000 bond, and is due back in court in mid-April.
