Frederic Man Dies in Otsego County Car Crash

A 37-year-old Frederic man died after a car crash in Otsego County’s Corwith Township Thursday, according to Michigan State Police.

Troopers say their initial investigation revealed that a pick-up truck was traveling west on Thumb Lake Road and attempted to pass another car in a double yellow zone.

The pick-up truck lost control on the ice-covered road and ran off, striking a tree.

Troopers say David Runser, 37, of Frederic was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 27-year-old woman from Frederic was taken to a local hospital in Petoskey for non-life threatening injuries.

Trooper say the crash remains under investigation.
