Cherryland Electric Awards $16,000 to Three Local Nonprofits

Cherryland Electric announced Tuesday that they have awarded $16,000 to three northwest Michigan area non-profit organizations.

These include the Grand Traverse Dyslexia Association, Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency’s Northwest Food Coalition and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Grand Traverse.

According to Cherryland Electric, the Grand Traverse Dyslexia Association will use the funding to help families with tuition assistance.

Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency’s Northwest Food Coalition will use the funding to pay for food expenses, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Grand Traverse will use funding to implement mental health programming in schools to help students, staff and parents.

Cherryland Electric states that the Cherryland Cares program has given a total of $646,476.60 in grant funding to local non-profits since the program began in 2006.
