Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry Company is Back Open for Business
The Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry winter services are back in action and officially making runs to the island.
The ferry was previously shut down on Jan. 21, but the Coast Guard crews dismantled the ice bridge last week which allowed the ferry to make its first run Saturday.
The ferry will begin running its regular schedule until April 21. After that, it will be open for its full season.
Ferry staff moral has been very high and crews are excited to get back to the ferry.
“We’ve been shut down for a little more than two months, which is a little longer than normal, and we’re really just ready to go and the guys are out there making it happen and keeping things safe as we take passengers to Mackinac Island,” said the CEO of Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry Company, Jerry Fetty.
The Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry Company has added more trips to it’s schedule this season, and also plans on some later business hours.
