“Big Little Hero Race” Returning to Northern Michigan Next Month

Northwestern Michigan College’s “Big Little Hero Race” is returning to Northern Michigan. The event takes place April 23rd on NMC’s main campus.

This year’s theme is “mentorship matters.” Each year, the team chooses a local hero to recognize and lead the race. This year’s race will honor Great Lakes Potato Chip owner, Chris Girrbach. His mission is to complete a triathlon in every state to raise awareness for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The race is planned and hosted by NMC’s professional communication students. It gives them a chance to learn about event planning, marketing, public relations and more.

“I’m just looking forward to spreading the the awareness and being apart of it,” said Samantha Spangler, a student at NMC. “I didn’t even know this race existed before, and I think it’s a great cause. I’m really excited to just be apart of it this year.”
