Bellaire, East Jordan Family Health Centers Distributing At-Home COVID-19 Tests

The Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Centers announced Monday that they will be distributing at-home COVID-19 testing kits.

Health officials say East Jordan Family Health Center will be receiving over 5,000 at-home testing kits for distribution through their drive-thru pick up days in Antrim and Charlevoix Counties.

They say the testing supply program is part of the Biden Administration’s “Path Out of the Pandemic” COVID-19 Action Plan, making available “free COVID-19 testing supplies, FDA-authorized for emergency use, for distribution at no cost to their patients and through their communities,” according to HRSA.

The Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Centers have received the Quidel QuickVue At-Home OTC COVID-19 tests. The tests are rapid antigen tests that someone can self-administer at home with results ready within ten minutes.

The tests, according to officials, can be used if a person is symptomatic, asymptomatic or within six days of symptom onset. They are recommended for individuals ages 14 an older.

For those ages two to 13-years-old, the COVID-19 test must be administered by an adult.

The Bellaire and East Jordan Family Health Center will be holding drive-thru pick up days for at-home COVID tests and N-95 masks.

Bellaire will offer tests on Tuesdays from 4-6 p.m., and East Jordan will offer tests on Thursdays from 4-6 p.m.

The tests will be available while supplies last and are limited to two kits per person, per week.
