Michigan Health Officials Report 2,770 Coronavirus Cases, 50 Deaths
Michigan health officials are reporting 2,770 new coronavirus cases and 50 deaths since Wednesday.
According to the MDHHS, between Thursday and Friday, the average number of new cases per day is 1,385.
However, the MDHHS notes that due to a backlog of previously unreported historic test results received and processed on Thursday, Friday’s daily case confirmed case count contains about 825 additional cases that are attributable to older lab results.
They say the cases will be sorted to the appropriate onset (or specimen collection) date in the Daily Case tab of the coronavirus dashboard.
Furthermore, they say 35 of the 50 deaths reported Friday were identified during a review of vital records.
In total, Michigan has had 2,071,587 confirmed coronavirus cases and 32,611 total confirmed covid-related deaths.
As of Friday, 5,668,987 Michiganders ages five and older have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Additionally, as of Monday, 6,635,406 Michiganders ages 16 and older have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
